To confirm that POPVPN is doing its job, we recommend you visit a site such as www.whatismyip.com , where you should see POPVPN's IP address instead of your own.

    Common Error

    Error 619 : It means your Anti Virus / Modem / ISP is blocking the PPTP Protocol. Please reboot your Modem/Router/PC .

    Please make sure you computer is connected to internet. Click "Open Network and Sharing Center"

    Now Enter Server Address / Hostname of VPN Server in Internet Address And Click on Next.Make sure you tick "Don't connect now; just set it up so We can connect later"

    Now Enter your POPVPN's VPN Username & Password details you received in your email and click on Create.

  • Repeat steps 1 to arrive at the screen below. Click Change adapter settings.

  • Right click the icon with the name of the connection you created and with the text WAN Miniport (L2TP) below it and click Properties.

  • Select the Security tab and change the Type of VPN to Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPSEC) and the data encryption to Maximum strength encryption and deselect the CHAP authentication method. Click on Advanced settings.

  • Start by accessing the Network Connections Panel. ( You can also right click "Network Places" and select Properties.) Click "Create New Connection" in the left hand column of the "Network Connections" window. You are now presented with a Wizard. Click Next to continue.

    Now enter the Hostname/Server IP of the PPTP Server.Example ( us.popvpn.com )

    If you are the system admin you will be asked if you want this to be for your use only or for anyone's use. I suggest you limit it to your use only unless you want the VPN network to be made available to all user accounts on the workstation.

    Next you can either just finish or add a shortcut to the desktop. You are nearly done!

    When you launch the client for the first time (hopefully from the icon you asked it to create from the wizard, if not then you will need to access the "Network Connections" window again and double click your new connection.) you will be asked for a username and password. Click connect when you are done with this you will be connected to the POPVPN's Server.

    Move to tab "Network" and choose the VPN type to be L2TP IPSec VPN, then click OK all the way back

    If Dial-up cannot log in and prompts "Error 768", open the "Control Panel" in the "Administrative Tools" found in the "Services", see "IPSEC Services" is enabled, if it is not enabled, dial-up, there will be problems. Right click on "IPSEC Services" left click "Properties" in the "Enable type" select "Automatic", Reboot will automatically enable this service.

  • Click Here to Download Openvpn Client for Windows ( XP / Vista / Win7 ).If you are using Internet Explorer, a window will appear asking if you wish to Run or Save the file. Click on the Run button, which will start the download process.

  • Once you have successfully installed the OpenVPN client, you will need to start it before connecting to POPVPN. Click on Start (or the windows icon if you're running Vista /Win7 ), OpenVPN, then Right click on OpenVPN GUI and Select Run as Administrator.

    Right Click on OpenVPN GUI Icon on Desktop and Choose Run as Administrator ( If you skip this , your IP wont be changed and you will not be able to access any blocked website even if it shows connected )

  • Step 3 - Connecting to POPVPN
  • To connect to POPVPN, right-click on the applet icon and you will see list of Servers , choose which server you would like to connect -> click on Connect.

    The OpenVPN client will then open a login window - enter the username and password you received when you started your subscription.

  • You will see a status window scroll through technical information as it communicates with our servers and establishes your secure VPN connection.

    Once you have connected, the applet icon will turn green and will display a message indicating your connection was successful.

  • Step 4 - Surf
  • If you have followed the instructions above, you should now be connected to POPVPN and can start using the internet anonymously, securely and privately.

  • Common Issue
  • VPN gets Connected but unable to access blocked website or Location Does not change

    Please Make sure you are Running OpenVPN as Administrator , Please exit OpenVPN Completely and Right Click on OpenVPN GUI and Select Run as Administrator and then re-connect.
